Under Vietnam’s Environmental Protection Law 2020 and Decree 08/2022/ND-CP, producers and importers must comply with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).
From 2024 onwards, recycling responsibilities apply to packaging and products such as plastic, paper, metal, and glass.
These codes ensure that imported scrap materials meet environmental standards before being used in manufacturing.
Vietnam uses QCVN codes to regulate recycling and imported scrap.
The codes cover five main categories: iron/steel, plastic, paper, glass, and non-ferrous metals.
Businesses must comply with these codes to import scrap legally and meet EPR obligations.
